Easy Needle Holder

YOU WILL NEED:

• Needles:
• Felting Yarn:
~75 meters
• Aran or Sport weight Yarn:
< 50 meters
  • 2 buttons
And of course: scissors, tape measure, and washing machine

HOW TO DO IT:
First, make the rectangle with felting wool and needles 8mm.
Cast on 50 stitches. Knit on the right side, purl on the wrong side, until it’s about 35 cm.
Felt the rectangle on the washing machine as usual.

Rectangle before felting:

41cm X 35cm

Rectangle after felting:

34cm X 24cm

Beware: Every yarn felts differently.
This particular yarn on my washing machine felted about 20%

Make the cables with aran or sport weight yarn and needles 4mm.

1ST ROW: p3, C2B, p3
2ND ROW: k3, p4, k3
3RD ROW: p3, k4, p3
4TH ROW: k3, p4, k3
REPEAT THESE 4 ROWS until the cable’s length is almost the same as the longest side of the felted rectangle (in this case, it was 23cm).

Once the cables are ready, attach them to the rectangle using a sharp tapestry needle and the same yarn you used to knit the cables. Be careful not to let the stitches show on the other side!
Make small loops on the edge of one of the sides of the cables (the size will depend on the buttons you’re going to use).

Close the Needle Holder as you like. Mark the right place for the buttons through the loops, and attached them.

Voilà!

PS. I know the colors are not the coolest ever, but they make the Holder really easy to find!
